how to install software on N71 and N80

From what I know in order to do that there has to be files in .sys format, but there aren't any, all of them are .dat. how the hell do I install the damn thing ... grrr Any suggestions would be appreciated, or maybe you got a link where I can find the answer, though I didn't find any thing when I searched.
