heya all
phone is set to general profile, sim and mem card are in, back up is done, pc suite is installed, phones installed via usb, i select pc suite mode when i connect via usb, but updater isnt detecting my phone. Should only take a few seconds, ive left it for a few mins now still nothing.

Im running it on vista home premium. Norton firwell and some settings are turned off as Masseur told me they may stop the detection, i tried it with them on and off, still nothing

any help?

cheers

yeah sorry I couldn't help any further.
I had the same issue on my vista machine and googling the problem showed most had this problem with Norton Internet Security installed.

I also tried uninstall and reinstall with no success (but don't let that deter you from trying) and ni the end I got an old XP laptop from a member here which I now use for all my updates, both SE and Nokia.

I'll be going back to factory settings on my vaio soon and installing everything I need before installing Nortons in thehope that will fix this issue

northon can give a lot of problems, thats the reason why i use AVG

try to delete the updater, but pc works well? if it doesnt work delete everything, than when you install it again it will ask northon to allow this program to use internet acces, just press ok!

just go on the internet with youre xp laptop and download the updater, but i think you also need the pc suite to install for the drivers.

@>500,

Not sure if I am understanding properly but ratehr than take shortcuts, just install everything again and not a piece here and there. I updated my N95 on my Mac via Parallels and it works fine. I do not use ANY Norton stuff otehr than the anti-virus. Norton Firewall has a history of screwing things up.

Here is a long shot but it has worked before.

De-install everything. Then go to Control Panel. System Manager. Select BT devices. Delete from the system. Restart the system and the BT devices will be found again. Re-install everything and it should work.

Hi all,

I was having exactly the same problems on my Vista laptop with Norton Internet Security everything worked fine except on trying to update it would just not detect the phone.

As i was expecting an E90 from Voda and would of really needed to debrand it it was time to bring back to life my XP Sony which i have now decided will be used for updating and flashing my phones. Thankfully now it all works perfectly. I must say i was amazed at just how simple NSS is to use and have now changed my branded N95 to Euro1 and V12 Firmware and have realised that T-Mobile actually had changed quite a bit besides the the Web N Walk icon after all.
