Quick question about IR transfer of Communicam photos. |

Only started looking through the forum yesterday as I'm expecting my T68i + MCA-20 later this week and wanted to check about uploading photos to my computer.
So far it seems that IR is my best option, which involves me purchasing an adaptor for my desktop PC (probably the MA-620).
In various messages I have seen that the IR port is disabled when the camera is attached and that when you take a photo in large size you cannot save it to your phone memory, if this is the case how can I transfer the pictures from the camera to my PC via IR?? |

Welcome to Esato
I have the Communicam MCA-25 and yes, you cannot send a snap directly from the camera to the PC. You have to copy or move it to the phone first. Then disconnect the camera as Ir and Bluetooth are 'greyed out' with camera attached. I have taken pics at the highest resolution (640 x 480) and have never had the pics not copy to the phone because the file size is too big.
When taken, a 640 x 480 pics is about 40-60kb so unless you don't have enough free memory on your phone, pics should go from the camera to your phone no probs.

Just another quick question, what software will I need to download the photos from the phone to the pc, does it work automatically through Windows or is there a specific program?
Thanks again,

When my images are downloaded they automatically go into a T68i pics directory which I setup when setting up the original SE T68i software from the CD that comes with the phone.
You will probably have some software drivers etc. with your add-on Ir device that will handle downloads
Only other software you'll need is an image handling application (Paintshop Pro, Photoshop etc). I think there's one on the SE CD anyway, but I can't remember. Or, depending on which version of Win/Mac operating system you have, there should be an image app as part of it.

Which software do you use that is on the cd for this? On my t68i data communications suite cd there is the mms composer, pics transfer (from pc to phone ONLY) and the modem drivers but where you can sync stuff etc
Is there something hidden or am i totally confuzzled?! |

I use the Windows XP built-in IR transfer wizard, which works fine.

Erm the and IR are not greyed out with the cam attached on my T68i with MCA-25! :/
As far as I remember it never has been since I got the phone with SW R2c and im now on R8!
It could depend on the config options set to do with the port's. |

Most people are under the impression that the hardware inside the phone to do with comms like IR and are on the same bus and that the connector on the bottom of the phone also uses this bus and therefore you cannot make a transfer with an accessory attached.
Quite clearly this is false!!!
I dont know why people would think that would have done this in their design when the phone is intended to share sh*t via various methods. I mean why the hell would they want to have people disconnecting their cam 10 times to transfer 10 photos!? For one thing you would wear out the connectors on your accessory and maybe in the long term damage the phone!
Please excuse my rantings
Seeing something actually happen is better than reading about what happens

How does one configure said settings regarding ports or whatever for bluetooth and IR? With my MCA-20 attached to my T68i (R8A015), the Infrared option is greyed out but Bluetooth is available. Help please?

to send pics that are already on your phone, just press "more" (the button on the right), select send, then select via infrared. to send a pic that you just took, press "send" (the center button) and select via infrared.
