Bought Front magazine and it was in there branded orange
and it said £249.99

anyone confirm?

Well if it is locked & on contract the network give you the phone @ a discounted price.

Sounds good, hope it`s not on a high tarrif (min £30 would make it a £600 phone for me,as i don`t wan`t a sim).

It means that u can use that phone only on the network you bought it from, u cannot put a SIM card from another network on the phone... It wouldn't work. Locked phones are cheaper than Unlocked phones, because u make a contract with a certain operator, and u pay monthly and not all at once...

The gsm 1800 operators (Orange & t mobile/Virgin) in UK encode their phones to limit their use to that network only. you have to pay (after a years contract normally) to have it unlocked for use on "any" network, which is why a lot of people only buy contract phones on gsm 900 ( o2 & Vodafone) EVEN if their main intention is to use it on say Orange because it`s possible to sim swop.

Just phoned orange about this.

They said no price at this time & not expected until Feb2003.

Got a bit excited then thinking it might be avaiable in UK before Christmas. Oh Well!!
