Why cant people have a sane discussion? |

Why cant people here take it when someone says something bad about SE and backs it up? Why is that?
Why is it that everyone expect everyone to just come here and agree with them on how godly SE is? How can we possibly have a discussion if everyone's agreeing with everyone? Why cant you post something thats not in SE's favor and not be flamed to death by users, many of which are reputed and old members?
I am getting sick and tired of this ****. Everytime I post something thats not in SE's favor, I get flamed, cursed. You know what? I dont mind that. What bites my ass it the fact that when i react to that all of the sudden i am the bad guy who curses and uses bad language and no one notices the fact that someone before me already used that language and it was provoked on my end. The only reason for that is that xxxx user is a SE fan. This has happened to me repeatedly on the SE forum.
It doesn't look like its possible to have any discussion on Esato now. Cant people here accept the fact that not everyone worships a certain brand? I am type of guy who generally looks at both the negative and positive side of things, and since the +ive is already under discussion, cant I go and point out the negativities?

HaHa that pig-headed abbrasivenes is not exclusive to SE owners i can tell you QVGA, I thought things had calmed down on here recently.
Golden rule is, NEVER expect ANYONE to share YOUR views/opinions, some people are just too set in their ways to listen to ANYTHING that contradicts their views.
And to be honest, i can think of hundreds of things in life to get worked up about, and mobile phones aint in that list

All I want is people here to respect each other.

Thats a very positive ambition, but Forums mirror real life in the "normal" world exactly, there are ALWAYS some people you will NEVER get on with no matter how hard you try, just ignore THOSE people.

@qvga - well said.
Can't tell you how many times and on how many forums I've been got
at for stating my case - which apparently isn't the one someone else
believes to be the right one !!!!
I reject your reality and substitute my own. |

i wonder what Freud would make of this slavish devotion to a device sometimes so small that it can be hidden in the palm of one's hand... (Of course, some are considerably larger than others ) |

@mweb6161:
You do understand that this is your opinion and others might not agree to this right?
-------------------
QVGA m8 I have to say that many times you have been quite stubborn too in some discussions, but that don't justify flaming. People should be able to say "Hey, I respect your opinion, but I don't agree with it".
Also to be honest I have to say I see you as a Nokia fan boy, that is the impression you have given me over the many discussions we took part in together. Maybe this is not the way you feel but your posts are a lot ProNokia if you understand what I mean. Still though you express how you feel, your thoughts, your opinions, and you are 100% entitled to do that, without some SE fan boy dissing you.

I think it's kinda sad if this is true, it should not be allowed to happen not even in a forum
I take it it's the Which one is better, N95 or K850? thread we are talking about. |

Its kinda sad it has come to this.
Obviously no one can act like adults.
But there may aswell be no SE v nokia threads. All that will happen is fanboys will get a hold of them and we get all the trouble of them instead of a normal, civilised conversation |

I think a big reason why people act like this is because of the way you structure your posts. It's a "not what you said but how you said it" situation.
For example, QVGA you said "+ives are already in discussion so I list the -ives" why not say yes x is a +ive but contrasting y is a negative.
Just my two cents. I don't mean you inparticular but is something that I generally notice.

Agree totally qvga.I only come on esato to prat about and wind people up thesedays.I don't even class this message board as a forum/message board for the following wierd reasons:1;if you ask a question re an old phone like p900 p910 you may get 1 reply if you're lucky..2;people are se fanboys and cannot stand the fact that se are manufacturing some absolute crap.Look at every k series phone with its very, very poor joystick(apart from the w810 and whatever recent stuff they've hashed together.Then they hash up the flagship phone that can multitask on par with a n7650(p990)using technology from back inth'ee day.Can't say se really inspire me unfortunately, or fortunately as the case may be!

I agree. I am able to have some great informative two way discussions about nokia versus se with guys like dogman, maggflod, mib etc, but some members can't seem to take criticism without thinking it's a flame. They want to say their piece and have no opposition at all.
Yes we all have the right to post our opinions but no one has the right to not be questioned about their reasons. If you post it you better have a good reason otherwise you WILL be shot down in flames. I've shot people down and been shot down myself, but I'll allways pay due respect to someone who is prepared to answer me back with facts and not emotion.
Prom1, dogmann, magflodd, mib1800, sapporobaby are just a few of the great dudes I've had BIG arguments with, yet I feel there is healthy mutual respect even though we often are at odds when it comes to phones, or computers in sapporobaby's case (hiya buddy)
That said, what I can't stand, is when someone replies to criticism with a personal put down, there is simply no place for that. It just causes flame wars. If you don't like someone's response you can reply with facts or just not say anything. There is no need to ever get personal. And I'm not saying I'm perfect because I've done it before myself. We are all human, and I guess that's the sort of leeway we should give eachother.
