Hi,

I want to buy a T68i but how do i tell the difference between an original one and one thats been flash upgraded from a T68? There a a lot of sellers on ebay selling the phone for around $180-200 but I'm not sure if these are actually upgraded T68s. Sony Ericsson's website says that available colors for the T68 (http://www.sonyericsson.com/T68/) is Lunar Grey and Ziroccan Gold and Arctic Blue is the one for T68i (http://www.sonyericsson.com/T68i). Another document I found through a google search is http://members.shaw.ca/shawn.y/comparison_800600.htm which shows the differences between T68 and T68i.

You must be thinking that even after all this research I'm still unable to tell the difference. Well, I need simpler explainations from people who might have experienced the same problem.

I contaced one of the supossedly AT&T T68i sellers on ebay and he said the color of his phone was Adriatic Blue which is not mentioned by Sony Ericsson at all for either model. The seller also did not respond to my other question about the model number written on the manual. I'm very skeptical but not sure if the difference is worth the hassle im experiencing.

Is there any real difference between the original and upgraded versions of the T68i as far as performance, features and looks are concerned. Lastly, if I finally settle for an upgraded T68i, how do I make sure its really been upgraded and not a T68?

I would really appreciate your help. Thanks in advance!

basically nothing different in term of software. coz they run the same version of sfotware.

it's only the faceplate one with sony ericsson and one with ericsson only. it depand which logo u wanna carry and what colour u r attracted to.

and lastly. the lgiht of the keypad of T68i is blue, where the backlight of the keypad of t68 is yellow.

cheers

The adriatic blue one is an AT&T specific color. Some carriers get their own colors. If its adriatic blue it has to be a real T68i not a T68m. Either way a T68m upgraded to an I or a regular T68its all about the color. They are the same phone hardware wise once upgraded. I tend to prefer the color of the T68m in luna grey. I have that one and its my favorite. I also have a T68i in adriatic blue it's also nice but I prefer the T68m color. Both phones operate and act the same they just look different. This should help u.

So, the hardware is the same...
The big diference between T68m & T68i is the software... but when you upgrade your T68m you may get the latest sw (R5D007), that means that this sw may be latest then T68i sw ... all other diferences are backlights and cover...
One more thing - here, (in Bulgaria), T68i cost about
$380, and T68m - $250 (+$30 for upgrade)
Now... it's your turn

Thanks everyone for your help. Is there any way to check the software version on the phone?

Should I look for version R5D007 or R2E006 when buying the T68i?

Thanks again,

I depends on the Hardware version as well as the phone it self, coz the t68i is newer you expect the quality to be better, but i have two t68m and are used equally, one of them always runs out before the other, even sometimes where the useage on the other phone is much higher that it
I agree the T68i mineral gray looks a 100 times nicer than both, of course it the newest hardware

I use t68m upgraded to t68i for 10bucks and i see no difference against the original. But consider the games. T68m has tetris and 4 another 4 hidden games (so in total 10 games) so more than t68i and more interesting. But \"i\"version has mms amd wap 2.0 and supports xhtml. Therefore i would go for upgraded t68 on ebay
