W900 picture resizing in download problem. |

Hi all,
I'm using a W900 on T-mobile with the Opera Mini 3.0 browser. Yesterday i reset my phone to clear out some junk and got it reset for internet browsing and loaded Opera back on. However, whereas previously i was able to download a 100, 200 or 300Kb picture now both the Opera browser & the W900's through T-mobile are compressing the files i.e. 15Kb for 100Kb and 50Kb for 200Kb etc; same dimensions but significantly reduced resolution.
Am i missing something in the settings or is it a connection or provider problem?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance |

Ok. Got a Vodafone sim and set up the handset, turns out Vodafone will let me download full size and full resolution. 100Kb equals 100Kb. So it's not a W900 or a Sony Ericsson problem, it's T-mobile.
Which leads to a call to the ever helpful and all knowing T-mobile support (!) who suggest if i have a problem with content it must be the interweb and the hosting page. But no, i say, same page, same data, so why is T-mobile compressing files and not giving full web access? They said they'd resend their net settings but i've still had no joy.
Would be interested to know if anyone else is suffering at the hands of T-mobile's net nannying and if there's any way round it. I'd prefer to stay with them, for value if nothing else.
In the meantime... Web n Walk? The internet on your mobile? Hmm... I'm off back to Vodafone. |

as far as i know opera resizes the images to save data/bandwithm but the internal SE browser should not do that. i have and w900i don't use opera thou coz i dont browse the web with my phone but i have tried some versions a year ago. strange the service provider cant just compress your data like that? i mean THEY earn more money when you dl big picturs.... must be something else.
