Hi just checked with my mum about my phone insurance and she rang her home insurance company Norwich Union and they say that the phone comes under house insurance for full cover eg damage loss or theft. So wh yis it we need mobile phone insurance?

Quite a few reasons... Claim time of 6-8 weeks... No unauthorised call cover... No contract breaker... No overseas cover... High excess fee... Loss of household no claims discount...

I called up one of the biggest Nowegian insurance companies to check what they had to offer.
This goes for IF in Norway (My guess is that it's firly guiding for other companies as well):
Your ordernary home insurance does cover your mobile whils it's inside the house(!)
They recomend an edditional polise on the phone that would cover as a network opperators insurance part from unauthorized use after a theft.
So, guys. Make sure what uoyr house insurance actually do cover before you rely completely on it. It might not cover your phone at all if it is uotside your house (most people take their mobiles with them outside from time to time ).

I`ve claimed on household insurance, never experienced "loss of no claims" like in motor insurance,in fact i`ve NEVER heard of no claims on household.
