Hi,

I know with pro duo cards the highest you can get is 8gb and in about a year its more than likely that m2 crards will reach 8gb.

But isnt it about time we got more?

I mean as technology gets more advanced we need the memory to contain them and 8gb wont be enough.

When will we finally exceed 8gb?

With some luck SE will ditch memory stick altogether, K850i will have MSD capability and it's better for it IMO.

Hi all,

Well micro SDHC already has 4gb with 6 & 8gb expected later this year personally i think within a year we will see 16 or maybe even 32gb cards. When you consider just how small these cards are you could comfortably carry 64gb with just 2 cards. We may even see some devices with two memory slots like Nokia's N800.

not to sure about 32gb anytime next year. I think thats more of a "theory" by sandisk. Il believe they can put 32gb in that little card when it comes out.

Hell I hope it does, beacuse it will make the other capacity cards drop!

I wouldnt mind 16gb on my k810

32gb is the addressable space by the memory stick pro standard and I'm not sure I have seen it written anywhere that any memory stick will ever support that, though being the same standard as pro duo and pro its maximum possible capacity remains 32gb

personally I suspect that Sony will introduce some new format that means we have to start yet again at lower capacities

compact flash is the only real consistant format that has grown in size and speed over time in my recollection, but its problem its its physical size

Hi Masseur,

Not sure about what Sony will do but I am pretty sure Micro SDHC is here to stay for quite a while as lets face it you can't really make them much smaller than this. As Sandisk have already had 8gb cards out for testing and these are due this Year i really don't believe next Year won't see increased capacity yet again and think it is perfectly feasible to see the 16gb or 32gb cards buy the end of next year personally i can't wait all those Albums, Films, Video's and pictures on one tiny card and always with you.

soon the 32GB addressable memory or current memory cards will be a bottle neck and ranges of new cards will come out from each manufacturer. They will start at maybe 16GB but will quickly grow from there. Remember when MSD came out? They had maximum 128MB addressable capacity, then shortly after the PRO format came out and they quickly started jumping to 256, 512 etc.
