sony 4gb/sandisk 4gb memory stick pro duo |

According to sony,theirs has 3.66gb storage.I`ve just bought a genuine sadisk one and formatted in my phone and it said 3,905.When i put it in my pc it said 3.81gb.So how comes the sony one has less memory?

Hi. Really confusing. Checking my Sandisk 4GB formatted in my phone it says 3904MB free. On Windows is shows 3.81GB as well. Sony mentions on their website it is an estimate and could be different. Depending on how many folders your phone creates, etc.
Also, it is interesting that when formatted on the phone, it uses 32k cluster sizes. That means, if you put a 1k file on the stick, it will use 32k space.
Also, checking Sandisk, they mention that 1GB = 1,000,000,000 while with Windows (and other OSes) 1GB = 1,073,741,824.
If you take 4,000,000,000 which is the size of the stick and divide by the OS equiv 1,073,741,824 you get 3.73GB which is close. be nice if the phone, the stick maket, the os, all used the same thing to express these things, then be less confusion.
