With K750i I have experienced that SE's hardware revisions are not necessarily improvements, but may introduce limitations as well.

On R30A, which is the latest and available since Nov. 2006, they have replaced the camera with one, which does not allow zooming in the highest resolution.

2x at medium and max. (4x) only at the lowest resolution.

Luckily I was able to find one of the previous revision (R20B) and I'm still using it.

Now back to P990i:

R6A > R7A > R8A > R9A > R10A > R12A

Does anyone have any info on the changes made ?

Interesting, I have a R6A from SE in the USofA, originally purchased and with Generic World1 and with that phone I never actually experienced any of those hardware related problems that were invoked by the fw changes with many users here.
And a R8C from a Dealer which has Netherlands fw. So far no difference. [addsig]

so another 2 revisions have been confirmed..

michael has R6 and you R9..

i have updated the title

well, I am still trying to find out what the differences are and I also believe that this may be one of the reasons why there are so many people with differently behaving phones..

Ah! So my suspicion is founded, it's the hardware (aside from the fw of course) that's making everyone go crazy over the inconsistent behaviours. Mine's been working like a charm for me on R7A. The full line is DPY 101 1472/145 R7A EN, and yes you can find it at the back of your phone at the battery compartment beside your IMEI number as well as on the box itself

So how has your experience been with R9A? Do share, any signicficant problems that is unique from other users (ie. phone restarts to improve performance when getting calls, autofocus not working etc)?

My bad, it's just part of the whole line you can find on the box, not the actual hw version, mine shows 1472/145. What do these numbers mean anyways?

i have no idea about the 1472...thing, but RxA is the revision code we were actually talking about..

1472/140 (or 145 in your case) may be related with it, who knows.. [addsig]

@myth.71, on my phone I have 06W39 (week 39 of 2006) and 1472/43. The hardware code is R8A (I think, there was a sticker on it) and beside it says TR RU. (Unbranded, WG 1)
I don't have any of the serious problems some users report, so does this mean earlier phones were better?

I just got my P990i last week, and the label on the box says R11B.

I haven't had any resets to improve performance yet. However, I have had the phone lock up on me on a couple occasions when trying to connect to a particular wireless access point that I'm always having trouble with anyway.

I guess this is another revision to add to your thread title, myth.71? I wonder if there are any further ones..?
