Got my Nokia E50 - lots of questions |

Needless to say, it's quite the learning curve, doing from "dumb" to "smart" phones, and from the UI to Nokia's S60. So far so good, but I'm lost on a few things.
- Is there any way for the phone to read the VoiceMail access number from the SIM card (like Sony Ericsson phones do)? I thought Firmware 7.13.0.0 fixed this, but no luck.
- I have my contacts' mobile numbers in international format, +1-xxx-xxx-xxxx. If the caller ID omits the +1, the phone doesn't match up the incoming number to the corresponding contact. Sony Ericssons don't have this problem, and neither do Motorolas (after a SEEM edit). Any way to fix this on a Nokia?
- When I send a file over Bluetooth to the phone, it appears as a "Message" with the file as an attachment. Is this normal?
- Why can't I send .URL (web location) files to the phone? They show up as text messages full of code.
- When a text message contains a URL, the "Add to Bookmarks" menu option doesn't actually add the link to the Web Browser's bookmarks. Where do they go?
- What specs do I use when I make my own wallpaper? I made a 240x320 JPeG, in both 72 DPI and 150 DPI, but the image is partially shrunken on the display.
- What "must have" software should I find and install?
- Any way to specify some apps to automatically load on start-up and stay active? For example, I want to have the calendar and contacts always running.
- Finally, what's the most ESATO-like forum for S60 hardware and software?
While I certainly like the PDA functionality, I have to say, there are a few things I liked better on
- start-up time, UI responsiveness, battery life (to be expected for a smartphone)
- address book,
tabbed view is much better, and is much easier/faster for setting up "default" info for each contact
-
functionality ( offered a bit more here)
- camera lens protection - the E50's isn't recessed enough
- predictive text - for a random collection of functions (e.g. web bookmark management), Nokia decides not to make this available;
also does better displaying pre-spelled word choices
And a small sample of where the E50 is better:
- "active standby" screen
- display
- earpiece sound quality and volume
- web browser -
is smoking crack if they really think their NetFront browser can render full (non-WAP) sites
- camera - for a 1.3MP fixed-focus unit, it takes good pictures, and is more responsive than any
phone I've used
PS: This E50 automatically becomes my backup phone the instant there's a US-3G-compatible N95

Sorry, I'm on the phone and on the way to work , so nothing comprehensive! Bluetooth files as "message" is "normal". The ui may appear "unresponsive" ( ) until you figure out all the wonderful shortcuts available - there's a "nokia tip/tricks" thread somewhere here (wapping, sorry) where boba and others put them together! If you have calendar and contacts on active standby screen, why would you want them always on to sap ram? They open fast enough?!
Handango have appr. 2000 programmes for your phone, 600-700 with trial versions...what are you interested in?
The wallpaper-frame is a bit sucky - as far as I know only "theme DIY" solves that problem - it's an app that allows you to "create" simple themes on your phone, and it'll make proper wallpaper of any size immage!!!...
Symbiangear.com are not bad for software and hardware etc etc (incl trialdownloads straight to phone)...
Now, gotta go!
