I've had a K610 company phone for a while, and I was really pleased with the music bit - when you have headphones attached and press the play/stop button on the side of the device, the music starts playing (even when phone is locked). When you press the button again, the music stops.

With my new W880, which should be a dedicated music phone, a press on the same button on the side of the device will
1) when the phone is not locked bring up the walkman aplication, and then you have to press the select button to start playing music.
2) when the phone is locked, do absolutely nothing but prompt you to unlock the device. You then have to press *+Menu, then press the side button to bring up the walkman app and then press select...

If you have the device in your pocket, the K610 will play music in one flick of a button, while the W880 needs to be taken out of the pocket and then you perform a series of clicks...

It seems the Walkman device is far behind the K-device in user friendlyness.

Is there any way to change the behaviour of the walkman button on the W880?

thats a major drawback IMO, as i found it a lot easier being able to do that, have you tred opening the walkman, locking the keypad with it open and then pressing the w button to see if it plays music or not

confusing thread title. I think firmware has role on this issue, since K750 and W800 have different behaviour on play button as well.

That would be a "not"
