Guys, I have a K700 right now (for the last 4 years -- yeah, time to buy a new phone now) (with INNUMERABLE joystick issues)
Kinda confused and need help on this
I'm thinking of getting a K750i for these reasons:
1. awesome phone OVERALL
2. kick ass camera (with patches freely available to hack the cam driver)
3. Good sound in the packaged earphones (i'm satisfied with the quality of sound)
4. within my budget (around $190 + cost of mem card here in India)
Also was thinking of getting the W810i for these reasons:
1. Looks cool
2. Love the black and orange color scheme on the phone
3. sounds UNBELIEVABLE with those in-ear earphones
4. 512MB memcard in the package
5. NO JOYSTICK !!
Now this one comes for around $280 without an extra mem card
I'd be using my phone for :
1. clicking a lot of pics
2. music
3. LOT of SMS and calls
I dont use WAP or EDGE, etc so not really looking for a phone with a feature i'm not going to be using.
Can you guys help me decide which one to get ?
Also, I just checked a friends' K790 ($350 here in India + cost of mem card) and its decent - I love the screen on it and the pics are kinda alright
I can afford either a K750+1 gig memcard or a W810i (with the in-package 512MB mem card which will make me buy a bigger mem card probably in 2 months)
What say ??
Thanks
Chetan
p.s, Dont u LOVE the W960 ?? Looks AWESOME ! (was also thinking of waiting till it releases) |

Definitely go with the W810. It's design is just better thought out over the K750. |

I went for a W810 from a K700, the things it has better than the K750 is a brighter screen, lots of little tweaks to the firmware, like copy and paste text, and lots more. The lack of a joystick, well I did miss it, but then again it eliminates any joystick problems, and after all it was voted gaming phone of the year (by some magazine, i cant remember who). The oly problem with the joypad is it creaks a little, but I'd defintley say go for a W810. |

The only thing that W810 lacks behind the K750 is the camera lense cover. But that problem is easy to solve. You can put back K750 housing while keeping the middle and the front one of the W810. And btw it is piece of cake to replace the back panel . So go for the W810. It's definately better choice.

You have to do it yourself, and although it's 'easy to do', it means if you slip and miss the desk, you'll leave a nasty big scratch on the phone case. I've done that one lol. |

daedalus85,
i have to do it myself? i thought SE shop technicians can do it for a fee. there are SE handsets' spare parts in SE shop here. hmm. not worth the risk i think. since i am not very familiar with the anatomy of w810, i might screw it up.

its easy to do although keepign it as a w810i is a lot better look and the camera lens is coated with some kinda coating which did the job for me,
id go for the w810i as the w810 seems to have almost all those points you listed for the k750i aswell as the plus points u listed for itself

I would advise against putting a K750 back on W810. Not only does it look awful, but the lens cover offers nothing. Even without a lens cover, W810's camera is perfectly safe IMO.

QVGA,
i just want some kind of protection for my w810 lens. the violet coating in it is prone to be scratched. even though the lens cover will not activate the camera, its still ok for me. the k750 back cover btw looks more of a digicam than w810. but if the changing back panel process is complicated (it will be if i am the one whos gonna do it hehehe), i will stick with my w810 back panel. the speaker grill and orange mirror is cool.
