Hey. Someone know anything about an application or something that can set your mobile phone up as an radar speedtrap warner? Got the info from a source. Say your phone gives an alarm or vibrates before the speedtrap picks your car up. Sounds handy! Got a samsung d600. Info anyone? |

Thanx for replying. Im not sure what type of wave it sends out. I think you get different types that emitts different type of waves. It works with a sender and receiver. Willing to pay as long as its not an arm and a leg! |

There is nothing for a phone that picks up speed traps by sensing them. You can use a GPS device and software like wayfinder to locate known speed traps.
There are several ways speed traps work.
1. RADAR
2. Laser
3. Camera+ timing

Just heard that you can do it with a Nokia by adding 5 zero's in the closed group setting. Apparently it interferes with the waves and they cant pick u up. True? |

there actually are 3rd party apps for symbian 60 3rd phnes and also for wm's that claim to detect radar traps!
but the best way to beat speed traps is this: don't f*cking speed!

Where im from some speed restrictions r quite silly. I do alot of long distance driving and some places u gotta do 80 or 100 km/p for 2o mins on an open road with no houses nearby! If speedtraps r good y call them traps? |

there's a point! I'm actually not for "hiding" them!!! is the most cynical, money-grabbing approach to road-safety!

| the first two can be 'sighted', since both work on the principle of sending and recieving waveforms...
Whatever app that is, it'd be able to detect the incoming wave ('that you are under the scanner'), and warn you so that you do the needful at the earliest... IMHO...
.
