... Indeed, can you be more specific? Very difficult to argue with a hint?!!

I'd have to agree with comfort. There's this thread about 'super camera driver for k750, w800, w810'. Its got over four thousand posts and so i'd never get myself to read them all. Something should have been about it as some point.

Inded.. it goes like this... "The bigger ..the better" ..
Seriously speaking, some threads ought to be big ones. Its always better than multiple ones discussing the same thing. Isntt it?

@whizkidd
imagine if i wanted to read them all!!!
@SE4NICK
open your eyes, its not about it been wrong but the fact that something could be done to make it easier for a new reader to be able to join in the last few posts but not before grasping the general idea of all whats been previously discussed. |

@ahmed, while I agree with your predicament, it certainly does not make sense to create multiple threads discussing the same thing. Even if the Camera Driver thread is 4000 posts long and still going on, it means that the topic is still fresh and people are discusing it. If you have any queries, all you need to do is to post and someone who will definitley help you out. Rarely does one need to read an entire thread to get the entire picture.
Just my two cents.

There's also the search button, but what I'd like is the ability to search within threads.

i'm not advocating for multiple posts for one topic. the fact is that for such threads it'll be daunting for new readers to join and so the thread'll be dominated by only a few (compared to the number of posts). it could be said that some of the earliest posts in a 4000+ post thread would be unnecessary to read at this time so i'm thinking as a first idea that maybe the mods do some kind of editing(delete some posts)based on their own discretion. |

you can almost do that with a work around. add the thread as a favourite and then choosing to search only favourites
my opinion is that when threads become popular and grow to the extent discussed here then the original poster, or someone else with an interest who has posted on the first page or two, should maintain a thread summary with relevant info, links etc. The as a new reader comes along they can instantly get an understanding of the topic.

@masseur
that is where i think the mods should come in, members would not be obliged to do this or might even lose interest after some time so i think it should be the mods that do the summary, or what do you think! |

that thought already crossed my mind but we don't always have the same interests or even understanding of some of these threads.
For example I have no clue abut these camera driver threads as I have never attempted to update the firmware in this way. Same with all these patches going around.
its really better all around for an active participant of the thread to take on this task
