The first one from the New York Times.
Closing quote:
"even in version 1.0, the iPhone is still the most sophisticated, outlook-changing piece of electronics to come along in years. It does so many things so well, and so pleasurably, that you tend to forgive its foibles."

and another one from the Wall Street Journal.
Closing quote:
"Expectations for the iPhone have been so high that it can't possibly meet them all. It isn't for the average person who just wants a cheap, small phone for calling and texting. But, despite its network limitations, the iPhone is a whole new experience and a pleasure to use."

How about the N95 doesn't have a Touchscreen interface!

No touch screen isnt a drawback for N95. I'd like to see a "real" review and see how the iphone touch screen is. |

Why don't you read the reviews posted in this thread then? They all mention the touch-screen interface.
Here's another hands-on review from USA Today.
Opening quote:
The mania over Apple's iPhone launch has created stratospheric expectations that are near impossible to live up to. Yet with a few exceptions, this expensive, glitzy wunderkind is indeed worth lusting after.
That's saying a lot. After months of hype, Apple has delivered a prodigy — a slender fashion phone, a slick iPod and an Internet experience unlike any before it on a mobile handset.
And another one from Newsweek
Closing quote:
Certainly all those people lining up to buy iPhones will find their investment worthwhile, if only for the delight they get from dazzling their friends. They will surely appreciate the iPhone’s features and the way they are intertwined to present a unified experience. But in the future—when the iPhone has more applications and offers more performance, with a lower price—buyers will find even more value. So smart consumers may well wait for that day. But meanwhile they can only look with envy as the person sitting next to them to them on the subway, or standing ahead of them in the Whole Foods line, is enjoying the phone that finally fulfills the promise of people-friendly palm-top communication and computing.

How amazingly over-hyped is this product? Its obscene
I seems to me that most of the reviews are telling prospective customers what they want to hear and riding the huge wave of collective euphoria that is coming with its release.
To me, its just going in such a completely different direction from normal mobile tech that it simply can't be any replacement to what I have at the moment.
I could probably live with no MMS however, no video and no A2DP rules it off my list straight away; I couldn't depend on the iPhone alone on a day to day basis. I'm not even sure it has Bluetooth?

Its a great phone for Americans, where they rarely see a good phone. But for us, who get all the cellphone goodies, its still far from being an ideal phone. |
