I'm really envious of my mate, he's buting a Nokia N95 P&Go but he's quite dubious as he says that hes heard there alot of returns on them for various faults. Has anybody here had a problem where their N95 has developed a fault, or is he just being over cautious?

I'm guessing though that all you N95 owners have that high pitch noise (to some degree)???

Nope no hiss whine feedback buzzing or any noise other then the other persons voice which is nice and clear in fact the volume is really loud and i have reduced the settings lower than on my previous devices. I really am at a loss to explain why for some there are all sorts of problems and yet for others like myself there are none and i am not accusing those with problems of making it up either.

It just seems if you get a good unit it's great and if you get a bad one it sucks. Now although there seems to be quite a few that do have problems i wonder just what percentage of phones sold this actually applies to? and it doesn't seem to be just branded phones either.

I had a great experience with my N93 and yet there where others that had a lot of problems much as the N95 reports now. Some for instance have real problems getting WiFi to work properly and as you have mentioned all sort's of sound problems. Some with Network branded phones have had 3 or 4 and still have issues. Although from what i have read most of these do seem to be from O2 and Orange so maybe they just got a bad batch it doesn't really make a lot of sense but there must be something that causes it. Maybe it is something to do with the branding but some of these Network phones have been debranded and flashed with the latest firmware and still have problems. Mine is a T-Mobile branded handset with the latest V11 firmware and as i said is just perfect for what i want it to do, the branding by T-Mobile really is minimal just a Web N Walk icon replacing the Internet Globe and the obvious links to T-Zones.

I would categorise most complaints about N95 are not really bugs/instability. It is more to do with expectation of perfection (which btw in some cases are not realistic).

- Some (not ALL) unfortunate buyers got slider that is wobbly but that just cosmetic and does not affect usability of the phone.

- Those who complains about bad battery life are those who use wifi or gps extensively. I want to hear from these people which phones they dont have complains (when using wifi/gps etc). N95 battery is not superb but it is very passable for normal phoning use (2-3 days).

- low RAM. N95 cannot satisfactory multi-task "heavy" apps like using the cam+play video+surf web+wifi at the same time. How many users need to do that btw? For normal apps multitask, there is no problem at all.

- Long time for GPS to lock-on. I always get lock-on in 1-2min. It is not great but I can live with it. Some complains the nav software is not as good as tom tom. But then again you dont have to pay hundreds of dollars for it.

I think MIB summed it up quite nicely and briefly.all in all i dont feel like returning mine or anything...even though my volume down button broke and i'm still happy enough with the phone to not bother even sending it to be repaired.and it wont be outdated for a long long time still
