P800 and pop e-mail to Japanese mobiles and PC's. |

Can anyone help me on this please? Rather lengthy but I will try to be precise!
I want to be able to send and receive e-mail, using my mobile's pop and smtp abilities, to Japanese mobiles and PC's.
I did have a Sony J5e and the e-mail, written using the English alphabet, could be seen by the receiver and I can read e-mails sent to me.
I know the new Panasonic GD87 will also send and receive successfully to Japanese mobiles and PC's.
Before, I had an Ercisson R380 and now a T68m with the 'i' software. When I send to and receive from a Japanese mobile or PC the body of the e-mail cannot be read. The message is 'unsupported character set'.
I have two questions,
1. Will the P800's pop and smtp functions be OK for sending e-mail to Japanese devices or is it based on the same codes as used for the R380 and T68m and i ?
2. Maybe I should buy a Sony Clie but I am not sure if a Sony Clie or other palm device can be used as a 'stand alone' device for sending a receiving e-mails or does it only work for that when synchronised with a PC?
Any advice would be appreciated!

You may be able to get a flash for your T68i that has the Japanese character set (I know you can get Chinese for example).
The Palms and PocketPCs can send emails, but they don't all have built in comms... you can use your T68i as a modem for them though.
You don't have to be connected to your PC to send / receive emails.

Thanks, Bingo
I don't think it is possible to flash the language to Japanese. I wish it did have this langauge ability.
What about the P800? Same software as the T68i so e-mails to Japan will be unreadable?

That's helpful to know. I know I can get CJK Chinese/Japanese/Korea language input software for the Palm OS.

There are 2 phone versions: P800 and P802.
You already know P800.
The P802 is for Chines market.
"The Sony Ericsson P802 has a complete Chinese interface for messaging and contacts and the input methods are Pinyin and Stroke. It also supports Chinese handwriting recognition."

thanks!!! Doesn't help me with the input of Japanese. I guess because the Japanese mobile network system - PDS is closed 'Japan only' then Japanese will not be supported as a language.
I also need to know if the body of the e-mail can be read if sent to and received from Japanese mobiles and PC's.
The T68i and Ericsson R380 cannot send and receive satisfactorily,
