I just got a T68i an hour ago. I'm going to try using it as a second phone, but I'm already annoyed by the damn blinking light. (What the hell does it want from me?!)

It sounds like Sony hasn't caught up with the original StarTAC's ability to turn off status LEDs in software, and this is a work phone so wire snipping is not an option. I'm thinking about less permanent solutions.

First thought was a sliver of electrical tape. That'll probably peel off in a couple days.

Next I thought of the rubber "dip" used on tool handles and such. I could paint that on and probably get good coverage and still be able to peel it off someday. Unfortunately my cans of rubber stuff are several states away from me right now.

So what about nail polish? It would be easy to apply. Would it be opaque? Could I get it off eventually? Would it ruin the plastic?

Any other ideas?

Thank you.

P.S. I'd like to use some rubber dip on the Sony people who thought it would be cool to force everyone to have a "Look! I'm a phone! Look! I'm a phone! Look! I'm a phone..." LED.

Wait till you activate BT if you have not yet and it blinks in stereo with the green one! People are always telling me I missed a call cause they see the lights blinking.

Try throwing the phone from a skycrapper. Now I can guarantee you the blinking light will be off!

I like the lights too... oh well.. I guess SE did the right thing. At least they did what most people liked.

Anyway, if you are really that annoyed, your idea of painting it with nail polish or paint or sticking a tape to it should work well. But I do that to the inside of the phone cover instead of outside.
