hi my mate having some problems with his k800i his normal orange payg sim card works fine but when he puts in his orange contract sim it doesn't work.

the contract sim works in other phones

any idea what the problem could be

well, i dont know too much about this but here i go:

what does the not working sim says on screen? inactive sim or something like that?

Seems to be a common problem with some older K800i and contract SIM cards.

My mate's on Vodafone NZ contract, and when he bought his 1st K800i about a year ago, it wouldn't work either (the SIM is fine, it works with other phones).

He asked Vodafone and I think they said his contract SIM card isn't compatible with the K800i, cuz his SIM is too old.

Maybe ask your mate to go see his service provider and ask directly there. They should be able to help.

Could b the age of the contract sim, if it's and older one ring orange. They'll either send u a new one or update the current one.
