Can you make your own polyphonic ringtones? |

Is it possible to make your own polyphonic rings tones from say your mp3 collection or .wav files? If so how can you do this

The short answer: no
The long answer: well it can be done but the result will sound like shit
if you have more than 2 instruments playing...
cuz midis are not 'sound' files like wav or mp3, they contain instructions for a midi chip on how to play the sound.
I read an anology that sorta explains it:
If you scan a newspaper you can't edit the text (unless some extra tools are used but that's not the point) cuz it will be a bmp or something.
So an mp3 can't be converted to midi cuz the information about the instruments are lost, you just hear the sound.

cant you create yoru own midi's from scratch using software ?
roland keyboard have always been used to make music connected to computers??
