Does anyone have the P990i SE Blackberry software working with Vodafone as their phone company?
I need to know how to set this up as nobody at Vodafone has any ideas! |

Yeah it works perfectly. Update your phone to the latest firmware via the Sony Ericsson Update Service.
Then download the Blackberry Client from the support section of the Sony Ericsson website. Install it on your P990.
Now get the blackberry service activated on your mobile account by Vodafone, cost about £10 to £15 a month depending on your tariff level. After this is done, use the internet based web service to set up your email accounts to your blackberry service.
Finally turn on the blackberry client on your P990.

Just don't tell Voda you have a P990, say you've been given a SIM free Blackberry from work and would like to get it working against your number.

Call up Vodafone and ask them to apply the blackberry to your account.
Thats all you need to tell them.

I recall there being some issues about SE handsets with BB installed - VF wouldn't officially support it.
As suggested, if they ask, then say you're using a BB handset and all should be fine.
One thing to remember, I think ALL SE handsets have the same first two characters for the PIN i.e. 66xxxxxx so it's possible they may still figure it out from that though. |

Glad to hear that blackberry is running. In Romania the Vodafone technicians gave up on trying to make it run on my old P990i. I have a question however: how much memory is free with the BB client running ?
I'm interested if I can run simultaneously Tom Tom, music player, BB client and occasionaly speak to the phone. I know that I'm pushing to the limits, but my actual Nokia E65 can do it with no problem.
Thank You !

Well guys - thanks all for your help.
I made one more call to Vodafone and, hey presto, I found someone at long last that knew what I was talking about.
FYI - when you have the blackberry service added to your account - and you have installed the SE software on your phone and registered it - you then need to log into: http://www.mobileemail.vodafone.net/
You then add your IMEI number etc. and configure what email accounts you want added to your Blackberry - it really that simple!
Thanks again, from a happy P990i Vodafone user! |

raduci, I have Blackberry and TomTom running side by side but I find that TomTom goes slow when new messages arrive. Also TomTom stops any audio from playing, so it's pointless having the MP3 running at the same time.
