Any Samsung experts? Got a D900 that won't boot properly! |

Just recieved a D900 today, which I was told was fully working. But when I tried it, it will boot to the Samsung 'splash' screen, hang there for a few secs then screen will go blank. On looking at the screen in the right light you can actually see that splash screen's still there but just with the backlight off.
The seller was certain the phone worked when he sold it (though think he said in his reply he'd refund me and I could keep the phone, very nice of him!  ), I thought I could see some light water damage but wasn't sure.
So, could this just be a software problem, and can it be reflashed a 'la Wotanserver style? Is there a Samsung equivalent that will work with the original USB cable?
Or, could anyone reflash it for me? I'd pay for postage and a bit for your effort of couse!

lol, that's the plan - but if all else fails I've got another D900 coming shortly that should just need a new screen, so could cannibalise it for spares if nothing else!

Here's a picture of that screen it seems to get stuck at if that helps (Taken with my K800i of course!  ):
And here's one of the screen after the backlight's gone off, as you can just see the splash screen's still there, it does go off after removing the battery or pressing the power button a few times:

i googled for d900 reflashing and it came up with this.
i dont know how to flash samsungs (but i do know how to flash SE phones!).
i also found this

Cheers for that Gaming_guy, I'm just trying that now, though not sure if either the correct drivers are installed on my PC, or if it'll recognise the phone in it's current state, but am keeping fingers crossed!

i hope it works for you!
from what i've read, they look harder to reflash than SE's (well, the d500's anyway).

i think if all fails might be best giving samsung a call directly, to see where der service centre is, in order for u to get it sorted.

your best bet is samsung sammy boy...
the D900 hasn't been out a year yet so it will still be covered by warranty...
you know how to check for water damage don't you?
I never took a D900 to bits so i don't know how easy it is.
but flashing samsungs is not the easiest thing in the world to do.
well not since the days of the V200!

when i took an e800 apart, it was really hard to put back together (mind you, it was the 1st phone i took apart!)

from reading a few tutorials about flashing a d500, it seems much harder to flash than SE phones (which are well easy to flash!!

It's not recognising the phone sadly, I suspect it'd need to be fully powered up or at least power up more than it does!
I have a sneaking suspicion it is water damaged, there was some evidence of residue on the mainboard, which I tried to clear with some WD-40.
It seems to charge, though I don't get any charging animation or indication.

try cleaning the pcb with a paint brush or something similar.
you never know, it may just be a bit of dust/dirt on a connector

I tried that software you supplied the link to gaming_guy, but couldn't get the phone to talk to the PC, I've probably not got the right cable (got the standard usb data cable).
What I've done so far is kind of cheating - I recieved another D900 with a broken LCD yesterday, and swapped the mainboards round so now have a working D900, might try flashing the other D900 mainboard if I can get hold of the right cable cheaply.
