Is it really possible to connect these two? I know that the bluetooth in SE ranges 5-10 meters and the bluetooth from my mac is 100 meters. So if i both open the bluetooth will they see each other? Or the mac will only see the phone but the phone will not see the mac? |

They will both connect no problems, but only within the 10 metre range of the SE device. You may get another couple of meters but that's it.
All bluetooth devices can connect to eachother, but only at the range of the device with the shortest range.

I echo the 1st reply. What do you have in mind belialwafu? Want to use your SE phone as a bluetooth modem for your mac? |

There are 3 class of bluetoothe device. Class1 (100m), Class 2 (10), and Class 3 (1m which is very rare). All can talk to each others as long as the distance conform to the lowest one. Also there is different version/ref/spec of bluetooth from 1.0 to 2.1 with EDR. All should be able to talk to each other but will follow the spec of the lower device (if you pair 1.0 with 2.0) the 2.0 will fall back and behave like the 1.0. Also each bluetooth device can have different profile and only matching profile can talk each other.
Despite there is standard for it some incompatibility still exist over the implementation of bluetooth. But ussually the basic transfer is OK. The best is to try it yourself before buying. I got old HBH-60 that can only talk one time with S700 (despite both SE brand). I also have i-tech blueband that can't use K800 voice dialing (other feature work great). Usually file transfer always work though.
When you combine class1 and class2 devices I found out it offer more distance and stability than class2 and class2. But class1 take more power. |
