however it is possible to have the keyboard light off and the backlight on hardware-wise, (its in one of the hardware tests) maybe in a future firmware update....

The one in the news!

But even that has grown this year...

New data from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute shows that there is more ice than normal in the Arctic waters north of the Svalbard archipelago.

In most years, there are open waters in the area north of the archipelago in July month. Studies from this year however show that the area is covered by ice, the Meteorological Institute writes in a press release.

In mid-July, the research vessel Lance and the Swedish ship MV Stockholm got stuck in ice in the area and needed help from the Norwegian Coast Guard to get loose.

The ice findings from the area spurred surprise among the researchers, many of whom expect the very North Pole to be ice-free by September this year.

it is possible, one friend of mine has done it with his phone, but you would need to open the phone and unplug one wire and contact on the mother board of the phone, which is a bit complicated, so dont do it

It is possible without unplugging wires and etc etc... But not on P990 or any other smartphone... You can use the "delete light of the keyboard" patch for DB2010 and DB2020 phones

Actually thinking about it, when running iPhoneLock 0.5 there are situations (bug) where the keyboard light doesn't come on... So it must be possible!
