Does anyone else have the same problem I am having when using Esato on multiple computers?
One day I view esato on my laptop, read through some threads and mark all the threads as read.
The Next day I view esato on my main pc and all the threads I read yesterday are still marked as unread along with all the new threads.
If I go back to my laptop I can only see the new threads as required.
Is this a browser thing? Im using Firefox...but its very annoying!
Anyone else have this problem?

I use it on multiple PCs, and have the same problem, marking new posts as read on one PC doesn't mark them as read on another. I'm using IE7.
I suspect it's something to do with the software the forum uses though rather than an issue with your/my computers.

I've experienced this also, it's not about browsers, it's a cookie thing .
The esato-cookie on the pc or lappie you used last, contains the latest info, (threads read, etc.), this isn't in the cookie on the other pc.
When it's a pc you never used before, it even didn't have an esato-cookie, before you started browsing.

... just curious: how come "it" remembers that you've read your pm's no matter from where you access esato??? but cannot "remember" that you marked posts as "read"??? I'm such a nOOb

Esato's server manages pms(they're not in cookie info), hence they are not affected by you logging on from a different I.P. address.....
....as already said, each I.P. will have it's own cookie for a site, hence differing new post/posts read counts.....HTH...

When you read through the Esato forum, your browser will save a cookie-file on your PC which store the info about your last visit to the forum. Each browser have separate cookie info so using a mix of Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari and Opera will result in that you have 4 different "cookie" stored on you PC. The same applies when you are visiting the site with different PCs.
Every time you request a new page from the Esato server, your browser(s) will send the cookie info (timestamp of last visit) to the Esato server. What happens next is that Esato finds all post made after you last visit, and print the list of posts/topics out to you.
On the other side. Each PM will have an owner and that is the receiver of the PM. Each PM also have a database field called "pm_is_read" and this will be set when the owner read the PM. There is no such database field for the forum posts obviously.
