I would like to know what diff you find in the Functionality of nokia E90 as compared to earlier communicators since they were based on S80. Secondly does it have options like ctrlA for select all n ctrl c to copy etc; thirdly does it support schedule sms and notes option on desk. Do you think a hardcore communicator user will miss earlier communicator while using E90, keeping aside the inevitable addition of media and connectivity features of E90. This info will help me make up my mind in giving my up 9300i for E90 so pl post you imp answers to this | |

@imran: the biggest difference to me is the S60 o/s. I actually find it more intuitive to use given the way nokia makes its phones, i.e. placement of buttons and structure of device. S80 had a great drop down menu system but honestly S60 gels well with me. i've been using a few S60 3rd ed phones leading up to the purchase of my e90 so i am quite used to the o/s.
sadly, scheduled sms is not available, but you can install SMS Chat for S60 3rd ed. It supports scheduled sms sending.
the ctrl-x/c/v key shortcuts are all there too.
the coolest new feature must be the vibra-alarm no communicator had this before. and its a goddamn strong vibration too
another nice feature is having S60 on both the external and internal screens. whatever you are doing in either screen can simply be continued on the other one by opening or closing the device.
the connectivity is just awesome of course - previously we were used to seeing Nokia deliver a new communicator when there were already some devices with certain higher specs available - but we went and got the commie because it looked so damn cool, had the large screen and keyboard....and hey, i still think no one makes a better actual telephone (in terms of reception and antenna quality) than Nokia. but now with the e90 you have cutting edge tech incorporated into the communicator. 16m colour screen, hsdpa, edge, gprs, wifi, bluetooth 2.0 + a2dp, radio, 3mp cam with AF and LED flash, video camera recording at 30fps @640x480, microSDHC support, huge internal storage at 136mb, and the real kicker for me: 128mb of true operating RAM. say goodbye to memory hangups and errors.
thats not even everything i cant begin to say how fabulous the web browsing is..at about 800 pixels across, you get just about the entire width of most websites.
this is what i have to say after one evening of use, heh. lets see what tomorrow brings....

From my understanding, Nokia based the E90 completely on S60 now. No more S80 for the Communicators.

That seems to be a very good price IMHO, for undoubtedly the best smart phone in the market.
I must resist, I must resist, I must resist.

Hi all,
No don't say that i purposely bought a N95 to stop myself but as the reports of this awesome device and pictures start appearing i am already starting to weaken. Hell i can't even resist the threads about this device even i think i am fighting a losing battle but i do have a free upgrade due in December if only i can hold off and there might be news of OMAP Series 3 chips and a true E61 replacement by then. Who am i kidding i am weakening already and fighting a losing battle blast you Nokia i need Nokia Anonymous and some serious counselling.

Not a bad price. This is about what they go for here in Finland. I am seriously debating it myself. I would have the N95, E61, the E90, and then an iPhone (my mother works for AT&T - retired but I can get a deal). Should I seek help? Don't be shy. Tell me the truth.
Hey Marc, can I sit next to you at Nokia Anon?

@sapporobaby
No problem of course you can, maybe we should actually set it up as a video conference group this mobile data addiction is getting seriously out of control. If only i was still faithful to SE it would just be so much easier as there is nothing i want that has even been announced as coming soon.
