... I could be totally wrong, but I think without some kick-ass 3g connection or better there's not much you can do?! I'd like to know of any tricks too (I tried various so-called web accelerators/optimizers blahblah...nothing seems to improve on a slow gprs connection! Oh, the only useful thing in one area is a youtube accelerator - that allows you to watch youtube clips even at the ridiculous gprs speed of 5-6 kb/s... )

Yes you're right the only useful softwares i found were the speedbit video accelerator(youtube accelerator ) and speedbit's download accelerator plus which really increases the download speed i get downloading speed between 5-15 using dap while without using dap i get in between 1-5 .actually 3G is not yet available in India .

yeah, forgot to mention dap! Though I've had some curious problems with files (videos, programmes...) downloaded using dap, it DOES really accelerate downloads!

If dap and video accelerator can increase the youtube streaming and downloading then there must definitely be some tools for increasing the connection speed .i downloaded zillasoft connection accelerator from www.zillasoft.ws they claims their software increases connection speed good enough to play online games or streaming etc like we do in broadband but it didnt helped me .if you can download it and tell me that what settings to do in it so that it really works than it would be of great help (its price is 29$ but they are giving it for free for a limited period as a scheme )please try and tell me .

on what factor does the speed of Airtel gprs depends?
the clues are
1.i have K500i and using it on pc i got 115.2 kbps thats kilobytes ok not bit but sometimes i get 9.6 kbps believe it.
2.on connecting with 7610 same Airtel paid gprs i got 980.2 kbps!! really amazing but its true.
i will now exchange the Sims of and will check the speed of both and wait for my post.i really cant able to open web pages with my K500i i.e 115.2 kbps help

Use "Tweakmaster" software.. Try out their optimisation strategies.. One of them gives the best speed/performance for GPRS connections..

yes u can increase it a little more.
change da windows reserved bandwidth(20% as default) to 0 through group policy editor.
then change da tcp ip half openport limit(only 10 as default) to 50 or 100.n make sure there r no viruses... in ur computer.
it might increase ur connection speed a lil more.
the downloading speed will definitely increase.
{{am getting a constant downloading speed of 7.5to 9 with SE j300i which is an old low end phone.
O seeker ! KNOW wHAt YoU SeeK AnD tHEn SeeK.

@Aragorn..
Can u pls elaborate more on this?. how to change the TCP/IP parameters..
I know it would prevent the browser from dropping the connection before a response is recieved from the internet..

I think this can be done by IP PINGING .But for me it was not of any help .But i am quite sure that there must be some trick to get speed because the speed is never constant .The maximum speed i got was 80Kbps on my N70 and minimum was 4kbps .This mean that i can get any speed between 4 and 80 .So there must be a method to get the maximum speed .So we must try to find something .

yaa.. im also getting almost similar speeds.. download speed is consistent 3-3.5 Kbps minimum, after 3-4am it rises to consistent 15-20kbps. Luckily one day i got almost 95kbps for about 10-15 minutes.. im using a class 10 edge enabled phone..
