Had a P990i with latest Orange f/w - checked & reflashed with SEUS - all OK.

Debranded with KK Client, changing CDA

Flash completed OK

Phone rebooted OK, still with Orange branding.

Ran SEUS again, phone detected as Generic World 1

Ran update. SEUS downloads files OK. Flash upload stalls at 77%! SEUS exits after 30 mins (no error message, just closed window).

Phone won't boot - on power up gives brief white screen flash then black, but with backlight permanently on.

Can reconnect to SEUS OK with USB + C - but SEUS says phone has latest firmware so won't let me update again. Option that used to be in SEUS to "update anyway" has disappeared, so I'm stuck!

Please help! I assume the Flash upload stalling at 77% is the problem? How do I repeat the flash procedure if SEUS won't do it?

-- Update

I bought another KK credit in the hope it would let me change the CDA back, so SEUS would see another phone to update.
Using KK to Get Info shows the ROM's blank! Looks like SEUS erased the old but didn't put anything in its place?

KK User log:

Error: Read Flash ID

So, what next? How do I get my phone working again? Please help!

Remove the battery and put it back again. This might do it.

When updating you see the first half of the process is from SEUS server to your PC and the second half is from your PC to phone.I think yours got messed during the latter stage. From PC to phone, which means your phone has kind of old and new on it,therefore cant reboot cause its incomplete.I think.Try taking out the battery and doing it again and also try updating on a really fast connection.I did it successfully using my other phone as a modem at 3G speeds.(360kbps)Took about 45 nail biting minutes. My next update is going to be done at an internet cafe with 100mbps speeds. For peace of mind.Good luck.

If you want to update once more. Delete SEUS completely and reinstall SEUS. This way you can update again. Good luck.

Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling SEUS, deleting cache db folders, and trying on a new "virgin" PC, all with the same result. Looks like a Service Centre is the only option - more expense!

The final master reset might be the reason - hard to remember now if I did that twice. But I'm loathe to try again in case it ends up in another expensive repair bill - especially with the other issues people seem to be reporting with the P990i and KK.

The main reason I wanted to debrand was to disable the transitions which make the phone slow. Does anybody know a way to do this in the Orange f/w (no menu option visible)?

You could do the olde video trick....

Run a video and then close the flip whilst the video is still running...you will notice the difference.
