N95 connectivity issues |

I have just got hold of an N95 and am loving it.
I have a certain issue though and if anyone can help i will be very grateful.
Everyone now and then i see the symbol indicating that a GPRS connection is active. I've checked the phone and have no programs running behind the scenes.
When i go into MENU>LOG and then select the right hand tab, it shows all of my connections (MMS, postpay wap etc).
i've checked the times and it looks like it happens every ten mins. it lasts for about half a minute and is only 1kb but is this something i should be worried about? 1kb every ten mins is 6kb every hour. 144kb a day.
What the hell is going on with my phone?
PS. is it worth upgrading the phone's software version? |

can be anything. any application you installed with a hidden process or any virus. if the phone is new a master rest can be helpful. |

Right. Installed f-secure and it shows no infections.
Do i keep f-secure running in the background or do i exit the application? |

u can let it run, just disable the feature to check upgrgrades every single time u use internet.
actaully, what qvga suggested, to make a master reset, sounds good. make a back up and do it. lets hope it solves the bug

From what the Nokia rep told me, it's prolly the Maps/Navigation thing.
He said unless you go into Maps and disable the network from being used, it'll use the 'net every day or so to check for updates, so it's best to disable it.
He had his set to just look for updates when he's in range of his home WiFi for example, prolly a better move.
My opinions on this forum are that of my own and not of the company I work for. |

Every time you install an app, it will tell you on install if it uses an internet connection. If it does, go into the app and check the settings and that it always prompts you before using a connection ;-)

The maps/navigation thing was the first thing i disabled. I wonder if removing all of the connections will help!

You can do a hard reset by doing the following
1.Turn off phone
2.While holding down the green answer key, the star(*) key and the number 3 key turn phone back on.
dont forget to back up data but this will perform a hard reset. |
