Speed Test? |

Has anyone tried to do some speed testing or benchmarking for file transferring speed from a phone to PC, or PC to phone between IrDA, Bluebooth and Serial cable(though with limited functions)??
I keep thinking Bluetooth is faster than IrDA, but is this true in real practice (even thought the dongle is right next to the phone)?

speed comparison between BT and IR, BT wins (in my setup)
Compared to IR, BT uses less power. And doing it wirelessly without the need for line-of-sight adds to the coolnes factor. |

When transfering files via Btooth i often do other tasks, kettle on.... ETC,So it`s not that IR is particularly slow it`s more the fact that you are having to hold the phone in alignment, & thats a bit "september 10th" |

So just how fast is BT over IRda? Does someone want to test it with a 100k file... |

There's got to be a problem in my setup. I have tried sending large files 3times & got the same result: IR is faster than BT. (at least for just a couple of seconds). Maybe because my BT dongle is placed way back in my computer case. Perhaps transfer rate is also dependent on physical hindrances. If this should be the case, BT should also be used on a \"line of sight\" like IR, to work efficiently. Just my thoughts! :-)

Undoubtedly is much more benifical and less restrictive than IR but intresting that there may be little difference in performance...
Who would have thought...
