Sony Ericsson Camera Flash MXE-60 + K800i |

I bought my SE K800i primarily for the 3mp camera as when I'm out I see photo's everywhere, be it clouds or someone rubish. The K800i has a zeon flash but comparred to a regular digi camera the range is somewhat limited. Dose anybody know if the MXE-60 is compatable with the K800i and if it would improve the "Range" on night shots?

I've looked @ the SE website and the nearest phone to the K800i is the K750i. As far as I know, everything lead and headphone wise is fairly interchangable but the K800 is not listed as compatible on the SE site. I'm wondering if this is because the guy's at SE think no-one would want to use the add on flash as the camrea already has one so not bothered try.
I'm just trying to get some feedback if you guy's and girls out there might Know or have an oppinion on this.
Cheers every peeps! If I do I'll post the pic's with extra flash and without. I'm also waiting for the guy's at SE to get back to me on this but I'm waiting a long time for an answer.

It doesn't work. I have tried using the flash attachment that I bought for my K750 with my K800 already and it doesn't recognise the flash.

Thanx Rookwise, you saved me making a mistake. I was so tempted when I saw they were less than £7.00 online.

I will take Rookwise's word for it . . . but I remember seeing a member here saying that he manage to use an mxe-60 xenon flash with his K800 way back If given a choice wheter to choose a K800 with a built-in xenon flash OR the K750i with an optional attchment mxe-60 xenon flash . . . I'll take the latter. The built-in xenon flash on the K800 is so MINUTE/small . . . which I think will give a small flash-effect too . . . compared with the mxe-60, which has a BIGGER size-flash.

The difference isn't that great anyway plus the MXE takes a second or so longer to charge than the K800 which is nearly instant. The MXE worked well with my K750,W800,W810,W550 and W850. Not tried one with my Z710 although i don't think it would be that good because of the angle of the fast port when the phone is open.

In any case, even if the MXE-60 were compatible, I presume the built-in flash would be disabled, so the improvement will only be minimal. |

Tried it with my MXE-60.
After plugging the thing into the K800i, it says "Not Supported". |

. . . why net get a K750 ...
I did have a K750 as well, I didn't see the point in having two phones. Extravagence and all that. The other half has it now, but she's into using the camera like the cat's into playing golf! She has a dedicated 1.3mp fuji camera,

which goes in the bag for occasions! I very rarely use my Olympus these days because the K800i is so damn good!

I get what you mean, I have a K750 and the MXE-60 and they perform very well together. However, I'm usually not too keen about bringing an additional accessory that I do not use very often. So my next phone would probably be the K810 or something else with a xenon flash.

Thats all good and well, I'd like to accesorize my K800 with the MXE-60 but if the K810 is just a K800 in a new coat you'll find the flash is a wee bit lame, hence my origonal post here. If the K800 could use the MXE-60 I'd go grab one right away as I'm sure it would make all the difference. Maybe at a later date SE may do a software update so the K800 can use the extra flash unit. |
