so lads...when are we getting optomobile SIP software (VOIP) on to our lovely p990i/m600i/w950i's ?
VOIP is the only thing i waiting to get on to my p990i...sick of waiting for fring to make their client,which im getting a whiff of vapourware of it!
wonger if one can "extract it" from a p1i????

I think it will be available via fw upgrade to the p990...

why don't say maybe SE will put it as a free third party app on its support page?why do you assist to be available by FW upgrade ares?

Do that matter really? One way or another, its a much needed app...it can be given like you say, or via firmware (or both).

but still SE hasnt been giving a lot of apps, so i dont think they will release this either except in a fw.. so i agree with Ares

I have read somewhere that it has to do with the fact that the SIP cannot be accessed by 3rd party apps and until  do something about this in a FW update, NO 3rd party software will be available for UIQ3.
Now i don't understand all this SIP business and i am only quoting what i have read somewhere if i can find the article i will post it here!

ajack says upcoming R6 firmware is made on a new baseline different from everything so far...that might mean SIP support will be on it

When do you think the new firmware R6 is to be released...
I need this SIP upgrade badly!
Lets hope that the P1i will help having voip on the P990i... who knows!

So ares what do you mean by a completely different baseline..new os perhaps?(doubt it).
The latest r5a17 seems to very stable to me so whats r6 going to be like,more available ram maybe?
Good to hear se hasnt ditched the p990i for the p1i!
Getting a bit off topic so the sip "profile" is there but 3rd parties cant access it?

Michal from my-symbian just confirmed that p990/m600/w950 will have a special firmware update around the same time of P1 launch, and that update will bring a firmware similar to p1´s
at same time, a official skype app is refered has try&buy app in the P1 whitepaper

hello
my mobile is p990i and im using fring , but it cant work via wap
only by wlan can work ,
i tried all the avilable solutions to let it work via wap but cant ,
always said cant established the connection
does any one know any thing about this problem
