I guess that SE is not so succesfull as some people here seem to think:

Quote:

'LG Electronics grew GSM shipments 60 percent sequentially, and is on track to displace SEMC in the top 5 for the fourth quarter'

So, even LG is going to be better than SE? And you people think that Nokia is SE's biggest competitor? Man, LG!!! I've never even seen any of their phones and they are going to kick SE out of the top 5 phone manufacturers in Q4? Come on SE, snap out of it and start selling some great new phones...

LG phone is growing fast in asia region and maybe US for some of those CDMA network. Not for europe.

SE will always be something financial analyst like to use as a comparison with Nokia. First, it is 50% owned by the biggest network maker. Both are company from Scandanavia country. Analyst always compare Nokia as a good performer while Ericsson the opposite.

Lastly, SE is being treated as a new company after all their product owned by each company cease production....therefore it need time to develope something tht have the green icon. Anything with the blue /// icon will or anything with just the name SONY in it will not be made and tht's something tht lead to the big down fall on sales.

Plus, all this changes is some big for distributor and this might lead to reluctant to promote those phone until things are clear up.....If distributor didn't help SE to sell the phone, definitely the sales figure will be bad.....OF course we have to hope a turn around will happen really soon since T300 and T600 seem to be quite well accepted in some asia region.

Does SE still get $$ because Ericsson invented blue tooth technology or did they give the idea away for free?

SE only license bluetooth from Ericsson. LG has good chances. They use the same technology as SE: the Ericsson Mobile Platform!

I think they should be alright once the p800 is out, but if its not a huge seller then they will be in trouble.

I thought SE is fighting back now with T600 and T300 ...most probably T100

ya it cannot offer high end features like fast GPRS (4+1 and above) or bluetooth but the target of SE seem more like pleasing the younger generation as old generation might stick with the old phone design like T18....you still can see a lot of phone using in Asia still using GF338 or even GA528!!! As to them phone is just to talk....tht definitely hurt the sales of Ericsson....unlike Samsung or LG tht keep on pleasing the young asia user.

If they (Se) manage to take some market share from the young ppl, then they will stay but if not....P800 might not help it to survive for a long time too. As part of the sucess story on Nokia also due to the sucess of 3XXX series...all the model are having same look and same platform and yet it seem to be the national phone for country like Philipine, Singapore and Malaysia young people. Where else at the same time E/// never manage to offer a hit budget phone after A1028.

I think SE is just keeping quiet and am only going to announce new phones when they are about to release them. See what happen with the P800, maybe now they are trying to manage user expectations.

hmm
i think

SE phones attract most of the FEATURE HUNGRY people likes us...the T68i and P800...

both very POWER phones!!!!

However, in the low end market, SE very hard to compete because for those use hp just to call and sms, low end market, they still prefer NOKIA like 3310, 8250 (still a popular hp after so many years....)

Maybe SE should made some hp to conquer the low end market...
and reliabe is very important...
Those nokia user said, nokia can last longer....SE hope can also

SE did have a low end phone to offer....T100 but it is still not seen in Malaysia.....it offer a compact design like Alcatel 511 which is quite well accepted in Malaysia.

hmmm anyway lets hope the rumour tht tomorrow (monday) launch of a new phone to replace T68 is true as it have been something everyone looking forward.

For me, if they are going for 4096 colour, then make it like True-i or else keep the 256 screen as 7210 is a good example tht 4096 colour cannot gurantee good screen quality.

SE' gool is to nr. 1 in 2006. If they manage to double the sales in 2003, that's a very good start. Remember SE haven't got a real low-end phone before t200, which is selling very good because of the low price. I think t100 will be a hit one and only because of the low price. Therefore SE will gain market share in 2003.
I also think SE will come with some hi-tech phones next year! I just hope they will have a design that attracts people espesially the female part of the world! Why are they all use 33xx???? Women don't care about GPRS, BT, WAP, etc. They want somthing cheep and easy-to-use.... so there is a huge potensial there! Go for the women!

No, they want something 'cute' and easy to use, and they think sending SMS's constantly is cheaper than calling someone.

give SE time... they'll make it... i see a lotta ppl carrying E / SE phones now in Canada... not the old skool ones, but the newer GSM ones... ie: t68, t39, etc.
Mobile handset(s):
1. PROTOTYPE TU2 Ericsson R520m CE. (Made: 00W43).
2. Rose White T39mc. (Flashed to T39m).
3. Icy Blue Sony Ericsson T200. (Water-damage revival!).
