Low to Mid-range phones seem to be the focus of the manufacturers lately. They sprinkle a few high-end, high-tech models around but the truely exciting mobiles are fewer and fewer it seems.

The basic Nokia 2630 is now their slimmest phone to date, at 9.9mm.

Hmmm, the 1200 and 1208 remind me a lot of some of those old Sendo's and Alcatels...:

Well no dur it's crap. It's for people that never used a phone before and those phones are dirt cheap. None of the them are impressive because they are low to low-mid end phones with basic functions. None of the new SE's are impressive since the W900i and that was two years ago. |

While I agree the W900i is a great phone sadly missed, I'd say there are many impressive phones in 's current lineup.
K8**, K61*/V630i, W850i, W880i, W710/Z710, Z610, W550/W600 and W200 are all phones I'd happily shell out my hard-earned dollars for.
Back to the Nokias.
I like the look of the 2505 and 2630. 2505 looks similar to Z550 don't you think? 1200 and 1208 are just more of the same boring nokia styling we've seen and rejected for years.

This is what SE have done during the start of this year. feeding the market with phones that will sell amongst the buyers that are not interested in WiFi, 5 megapixels cams, Bluetooth and HSDPA.
We can just hope that SE will give us the High End pones from now on.
They can not have many more Mid and Low end phones to announce. |

Most of those phones that you listed weren't that great. W850? just better walkman software. W880? Just a thin phone with painful looking keys and 2-year old specs. W710? looks pretty hideous like the sport music players from Sony. W550/W600 is pretty old, so it doesn't really count, good for its time.

For the price, they aren't bad at all imho - after all the 2630 is a very slim, very light phone targetted at people that want a simple phone, but has all essential things like Bluetooth, TFT display and FM radio. And that for just 85€'s... |
