From Nokia:

Stop the press - just got this from the NSU team. Don't worry that N95 is not yet listed on the NSU product compatibility list, it will be added there shortly.

-----
Dear Updaters

We are pleased to announce a new software release for the Nokia N95 available through the Nokia Software Updater.

Due to potential backup/restore incompatibilities, we strongly recommend synchronising your Calendar details before updating your software.

Version 11.0.026 is available for most product codes, but please note that not all operator variants are included yet. These will be added as soon as they are available.

Warm regards,
The Nokia Software Updater team

excellent, just changed the product code on mine to a generic EU one so that should save me having to trust a service centre on updating it for me! [addsig]

by any chance did it update, and when you rebooted you got a message saying

"Phone start up failed, contact retailer"

If it did, you have a bit of an issue. It means they know you have changed the product code.

You need to return the code to the original code after flashing to stop this happening.

Was it voda or orange? So you have to change it back after you update the firmware? Any one else have this?

Sorry dude, to be blunt, it's fcuked.

You'll either need to return it to Nokia, and get it flashed (and hope they don't ask to many questions), or see if a service centre can help out.

Bit of a nightmare really.

I can confirm that the new firmware works like a charm. The only apparent change so far is that the camera works a lot faster (from point-and-click to the camera acctually taking the picture).

Overall it also seems that the firmware has improved the picture quality slightly.

IŽll report back if I find anything else, just been using it for 2 hours now.

Be aware of a couple of things

If you have changed the product code to 'debrand'

DO NOT DO THE FOLLOWING

1. DO NOT use any backup you have created from the memory card or from nokia PC Suite, it will kill your phone.

Only submit new setting etc.

2. Once the phone is flashed and restarted, immediately change the product code back to the original. It will not affect the firmware, and keeps the phone product code and IMEI 'in sync'

If you don't do this you might get the dreaded, 'Phone failed to startup, contact supplier' message on boot up.

If you get this you can usually save this with an emergency hard reset.

Do the following

1. Turn the phone OFF
2. Press the Green call answer button, the * button, and the '3' button together.
3. Whilst holding them, then press the power button, and keep holding the other 3 buttons.
4. Wait till the phone reboots.

It should now boot up, and your happy and smiling again!!!

Happy Happy People

NO NO, never mix back ups from completely different product code back ups, it'll corrupt your firmware, that goes for both memory card back ups and Nokia PC Suite
