Hi everybody,

I've recently acquired a new old stock HCA-10 (so all new in the box) for my parents to use with their T39's.

Today I went and installed the carkit, pretty simple and straightforward.

You connect the red wire per instructions via a fuse connections (3Amp) to the plus and the black wire to the grnd (-) on the battery.
Once all was connected (speaker, mic, holder) I connected the power cable and .... pfft the fuse blew.

I checked the cable: there's no short in the cable.
The fuse instantly blows when i plug it in the control module. It seems to be taking to much amps. I checked with a higher amp fuse, 10Amp did hold it but the carkit didn't work with that fuse in place. Anything lower just burns thruogh.
I'm no electrician, so.... do I have a faulty control box or is something else going on?

TIA,

Dietbrand

Aaaaaarrgghh!!!

Don't put bigger fuses in! You could blow up the Control Box! Stick to 3 Amp.

Don't get your 12v constant supply straight from the Battery. Best to get it from the back of the Stereo or the Accessory terminals in the Interior Fuse Box. Does the HCA-10 have a Blue 12v Ignition Switch wire and a Yellow Mute wire too? What make and model of car is involved?

Not to worry all's fine by now.
After closer inspection of the powercable is saw there were tiny hairline fractions in the insulation that caused all the trouble. Luckily I had a spare cable so all was installed as it should per instructions and working.

Thanks for the help though,

Good, and never ever replace fuses with those of higher rating...
