Moto stayed too long with the same old (now tired) design. Rather than true innovations they did gimmicky stuff with the RAZR like colors, then a narrow shape, then a candybar version. But what new features did they include? They barely even improved the camera.

I've a feeling they will turn things around quite quickly (6 months? ). It takes something like this to make things happen.
The complacency set in with the RAZR: It selling like hot cakes but at such a cheap price Moto probably makes very little money on it. Its not as if they don't have the resources to bring something grrrrrreat out again.

I had a V3i for a short while, and I found that in some ways the VGA camera on the V3 was better than the 1.3mp unit in the V3i!
Moto are indeed slipping, should be a saluatory lesson to other manufacturers about being over-reliant on one or two designs.

This can't be right can it, he must be way off the mark:
MARKET SHARE DROP
Charter's Snyder estimated that Motorola's market share fell to about 17 percent from 23.3 percent in the previous quarter.
It likely lost share to rivals such as market leader Nokia, set to report later this week, and smaller rivals Samsung Electronics and Sony Ericsson, a venture of Ericsson and Sony Corp, he said.
A six point drop in market share
Make you wonder who has gained. Nokia has gained one point so we will find out tomorrow.
