"A spokeswoman for Orange told us the theft would not have a significant effect on the supply on the smartphone. It is continuing to receive shipment of the phone from Taiwan, she told theregister. Meanwhile the stolen smartphones have been blacklisted by Orange"

yeah I can confirm this piece of news as I was told last night by a friend who works at orange retail.
Those phones might as well be sold as paper weights!
If all the write ups on orange and microsoft's partnership through out this project are true Orange will have made this phone an ORANGE ONLY phone, with out the facility to have the phone on other networks.
Also don't 4get that recent legislation means that any blacklisted phone in the uk becomes blacklisted on all networks so there are completely useless over here.
P.s. what the hell is going on with heathrow!! The worlds most busy airport and their security record over the past year has been terrible! |

I have been told that "cloning" is what happens to these phones, (same as stolen cars) it makes the phone imei appear legitimate to the network. allthough what happens when both are being used at the same time ?????? |

The ppl who stole these would have known that orange would immediatly block them , so im sure they had a plan for them to be used again some how. Otherwise they wouldnt have stolen them.

AT the moment the only way to unlock them is through Orange customer services...about £32 i think if your an orange customer. And only if your a customer. Im sure you will be able to unlock via data cable or through shops like all other phones.

I'm staying clear of the spv, ms software is really buggy on phones and pdas. P800 has got my vote! ;-)

The SPV is a tri-band handset so it can be used in Europe, Asia and the USA.

U can use spv abroad with orange-just roam onto a supported network-true blacklisting covers all uk nets, but it is locked to orange-so dont make sense to steal em-stil waitin to hear if it can be unlocked officialy
