I have not seen this before, wondering if any of you know how to sort this out, i am trying to sync my tasks and notes via the PC suit (all other data is from activesync), the notes copy over however with the tasks there is an error saying that the Synchronisation is disabled by device! Any ideas how to enable it?

I think it's a bug-try advanced Sync and check notes and else.

I'm having the same exact problem since updating to the latest FW (10/04).
Probaly a bug i think, mayby it will be corrected in later FW's.

I think this is caused by the new ActiveSync. Which verison of ActiveSync are you using? I begin to have this problem after upgrading to 2.012

Dataviz Roadsync, same version as you. But, active sync isn't the problem i think because with active sync you can only synchronize calender, contacts and e-mail and not tasks an notes. It's probably a bug in the new FW or PC suite.

It most likely is the new active sync, considering that we all are having problems with it while using active sync....its so bizzare though, cause you cant sync it with the tasks, must be a bug with the software.... |

After I enabled ActiveSync on my P1i that made manual synchronization impossible. I have ActiveSync 2.014 (311) installed.
I have opened a case to SE about this but I have not heard anything yet (their support sucks ass)...
Edit: Btw, ActiveSync doesn't work very well for me. I have set it up to sync mail, calendar & contacts but the calendar only works with some entries, far from all. For example, the current week is never synchronized, only a couple of weeks before and after the current.

I had the same problem and it was annoying as I only use ActiveSync for my mail. Everything else I prefer to do on site and through PC Suite.
From what I understand all the versions of ActiveSync by DataViz after 2.010 have essentially disabled sync of mail, contacts, calendar and tasks through PC Suite. I’ve been told it’s not a bug in either the phone firmware or the PC Suite but a deliberate “security fix” on the ActiveSync software. I got this from SE.
So all I can suggest is you try and get version 2.010. You will have more control then |

That would be OK if Roadsync/Sony supported syncing of Tasks OTA via MS Exchange, but they don't. But you can't sync them to your PC either because the conduits are disabled.
Strange how Nokia and WM devices manage Tasks without any problem.
How the hell can they position this as a serious business tool when you can't even keep your ToDo list up to date?

@PDAMed, that is exactly the point. The p1i is NOT a serious business tool by any means, but a drain on productivity.
I really don't care how good it looks and what other good features it has, WLAN et al. Bottom line: its PIM software has a poor set of features, crashes, and doesn't provide adequate or reliable synching.
Unfortunately, there is no return policy here in India, I would have turned it back in in a flash. I could still do it and take a USD 150 hit, since the phone still has quite a reputation here in India. Just a matter of time before serious business users will learn to stay away from it.

I noticed when I installed the Active Sync that it gave me a brief message about disabling synching.
I would also like to sort this out. I sync my work account with active sync, but have no way of syncing with my laptop now. |

Synching is an extremely serious issue, and the problem of duplicate contacts, calendar entries, and a failure to deal with recurring calendar entries adequately are problems that appear to have been around since 2003. SE seems to be making no attempt to address this serious database issue. Add to that the problems with alarm functionality, voice tags, etc. that many people are having, and the phone begins to resemble terrain with hidden landmines.
Business users cannot rely on Contacts and Calendar to keep important schedules and contact information up-to-date, safe and reliably accurate.
We need to petition SE immediately to address these issues. Users of a phone touted as a flagship business model can expect more than this. I can understand that users who are more interested in multimedia capabilities or Internet browsing are not particulary affected, but they have models other than the P1i to use. What good are these advanced features if one browses the Internet while missing an appointment that was never synched to the Calendar or whose alarm did not go off?
Any ideas on how to petition SE to fix these very serious issues and help SE come back on track with its business models?
Anil
P.S. Any tips on how to get paid by SE while doing so?
