Hmm, thats interesting. See I'm due to upgrade this July and currently besides the N95 there is NOTHING on the market I like. have brought nothing new to the table, I can't stand Samsung's menus and other brands just scare me.... [/RANT]

Seriously though, I'm on a £35per month contract, and this will be my second year, so do you think they might make me a better deal? How long have you been with O2 scott?

Cheers

Been with them £18 months, i am actually pretty peeved off as i thought it would be cheaper. I am tempted to leave O2 and go to T-Mobile, and get there Flext 35 tariff with web&walk for £42.50 and you get the N95 free, thats instore at CPW

Hmmm, I don't really want to be spending £35 per month anymore, £30 would be better; I'm only a poor student... I might try and get teh N95 cheap, then lower my contract..

As a little side question, about the GPS in the N95, does it work straight out of the box, or do you need to sign up to some service?

Cheers

I got an N95 on a new contract about 10 days ago. Free on £40/month contract. I expect by July you should be able to get it free on a £35 or even £30/month contract - especially if you phone up and 'haggle'

The GPS works 'out of the box'. Fortunately on O2 you get a 1GB memory card with UK maps already installed (although it's trivial to install other maps).

I think you have to pay extra for turn-by-turn directions. Although my GPS is so slow I don't think I will bother with this.

Excellent, well, I think I'm gonna have to go for it... I don't have a car, I'm a motorbike guy, so the turn by turn directions would be tricky, I'd probs get a proper GPS system for that. Still, it'll come in v. handy.

@Waka

As another little side question, how is the build quality? I only ask because, the N80 I had felt a little "loose" on the slide; like it wasn't gonna last the year...

Cheers

Whilst checking out the N95 at cpw I noticed the sliding mechanism felt a bit slack and reminded me of how the N80 slide felt. Best wait untill someone who bought one replies to this though, eg. Masseur, as only in regular use would you really know.

cheers majikman.

Had a play with my mates N95, slider was loose as other people have said and as for the GPS, the signal was non existant

Its probably by now back at O2 Hq and he`s waiting for them to send him an SE.

Shame, nice idea, nice looking phone but no cigar.

from comments here it seems to be a little variable so the suggestion is to check out your phone thoroughly in shop before taking it away. Mine is fine and I recall a couple of people here trying 3 or 4 phones before deciding which to take

the build quality of mine is fine. The slider slides both ways with a satisfying 'click' and isn't loose in any way.

The phone is very light given what it's capable of and you can see how Nokia have managed this in, for example, the battery cover - it's very thin.

Overall I'm very happy with the build quality. I assume it's got a 2 year warranty but I would be delighted if it lasts as long as my trusty P900 (3 years and still going strong!).

oooh! I'll have to order me one of those socks for M95 (I don't mind the wait)

btw, if you're after an N95 on O2 you could go to carphonewarehouse or look at any of the other online shops like onestopphoneshop etc
