I bought a second-hand T39 and HBH-15 headset but can't seem to get the headset to dial out using voice commands.
I've checked all settings I can think of, reset the headset and re-"paired" the devices but no change.
The headset works fine with incoming calls so I know bluetooth is working and voice-dialing works fine from the phone so I know those features are alive but when I press the headset button to initiate a call, I get several short beeps (number varies) followed by a longer error tone - as the error tone sounds the "<>" bluetooth actice symbol appears briefly on the phone's readout.
Being second hand there is always the possibility the phone or headset (or both) are damaged and Sony won't transfer the warranty - they have quoted $100-150 to repair the phone but I would like some clue if it is indeed the phone that needs repairing before I even think of paying that.
Anyone have any ideas, suggestions? |

did you record the voice commands from your headset or from the phone? try to record them using the headset. it's possible that it wasn't able to recognize the command. |

Thank you.
I will try what you suggest but I suspect it won't work because I would expect that if it did work, the headset would beep once, wait for my input then issue the error tone if it did not "hear" or recognize what I said. Instead, after pushing the button, it beeps 2-5 times at about ½ second intervals then emits the error tone.
I also haven't had much luck beaming contacts via IR from my Palm V to the phone. |

Couldn't use headset to record names - any other ideas.
Headset seems to only work for incoming calls, nothing else. The fact that it works for that makes me think that there is some setting somewhere to complete communication. If there was a physical fault with the phone or headset, I would expect it not to work at all. |

No I never got it to work properly - major frustration because the headset is great to use in the car and being able to voice dial would be the "cherry on top"
The phone is giving other problems now and I suspect it won't work at all soon - pity because I don't like most of the phones out there right now and really like the T28/39 design. |

Thanks for your help, i have given up trying to voice dial now. Like you said it is great in the car, but I think the road noise is confusing the voice recognition. I'm upgrading my phone soon maybe a later phone will work |
