Vista x64 and SE |

Well, because im a IT repair guy, i had Vista x64 liying around, and guess what, i installed it.
Though i hate M$ and there where some serious mistakes made by them (ONLY signed drivers, support 32bit stuff, but say no when installing), i kept it.
Now i wanted to play around with my W800i on it, and when installing the drivers... "This is not for x64! please download x64 drivers"... stupid vista...
Anyone got some other drivers than the "W800i USB Drivers" from SE?
cause i installed some other x86 drivers, and they work, so x86/32bit is supported... stupid vista

A brand new OS is always short on drivers. I would not even look at it until it has 1 year mileage on it.

@Resident Evil,
Well Nokia launched PC Suite 6.83 on 10th April and it supports Vista 32 & 64 bit so that's not quite true. Although I've read on the forum although the SE PC Suite is coming soon SEUS won't be till September.
So far the only thing that won't work on Vista is my Sony Skype mouse. I'm really starting to lose my love of Sony my old Laptop was is only 15 months old and it's never left the house or been abused letters are coming of the keys and it just so slow considering i always free up disk space and defrag.

Looks like SE is still not supporting Vista x64 (at least with update software). Anyone got any workarounds? |

I've bee using vista x64 for all SE applications including the update service. No problems whatsoever...
Also... i'm sure there are 64bit Vista drivers available..

I have been using Windows XP x64 for two and a half years now. I have dozen of accessories and they all work because the manufactures are including x64 drivers. But not To syncronise the user data or update the firmware on my se phones using Sony Ericsson Update Service I had to use a second PC. It is a dillemma. You can go for a 64 bit OS and take advantage of 4GB+ of ram or go for a mainstream 32 bit OS where you most likely will find drivers.

^Yeah I'm considering getting Vista x64 to use 4GB+ RAM, just wanted to check out if everything would work after that.

There's no mention of it on SE site. Could you please provide a link in case you have unofficial drivers.

SE is stupid because they hide the drivers of vista x64
go to the SEUS folder in program files-sony-ericsson,you should find them in the setup folder then you should unpack USBflashdrivers and choose AmdX64,don't worry it works with Intel cpus too

can you elaborate more on the process in which you made SE update service work with Windows Vista 64bit. I am able to connect my phone fine with the SE suite software but when i try to use the update service windows is unable to find the USB Flash driver. |

i attempted to manually chose the folder where the driver was located. I chose the Amd64 folder after i extracted the files but no success. |
