anyone know how to get rid of the blue gprs triangle in the top left corner on sony ericssons (just above the signal indicator)?
at the moment it is 'always on' in the corner but i'm convinced it can be turned off and then comes on when needed (eg web browsing).

In case your phone has an option to select between 'always on' and 'when available/needed' in Gprs settings... select the latter...

It must be the GPRS signal indicator... When signal is there it'll show up... That's what i can judge...
Some phones may not have the option, but it's a rarity...

If i'm not mistaken, select CS only. This is the equivalent to gsm.

What does this ps and cs stand for...

put simply...
cs is circuit switched. this is equivalent to dialup data (i.e. when you dial a telephone number) and the data is conveyed in a similar manner to a voice call
ps is packet switched. this is where packets of data are transmitted either by gprs or by 3g
cs and ps/gprs is gsm
ps/3g is umts
I also noticed that while the T/K/W etc series can clear the blue triangle, some w950 I have seen on o2 simply give the white triangle border
I've never really understood why anyone wants to turn off the blue triangle, and I've always wondered why people who do, don't also want to turn off the green triangle
but each to their own...

Turning the blue triangle off has absolutely no effect on battery life, except of course you use it.

you mean very, very not pronounced?
anyways doesn't GPRS work with CS (GSM) too? so how does turning to CS only turn the indicator off? |

well... GPRS is a packet switched technology though it works over GSM
when u turn on CS only option in ue phone what happens then is that ur phone will work only for CS voice and CS data..... but since GPRS is PS data , you wont b able to use it... |

Ya, and both can't work simultaneously... gsm and gprs...

you don't need GRPS always on if you don't need it. It uses more power and will anyway be activated when you use wap and MMS..
