I just converted my K550i to a W610i on Wotan and it is much better, i.e the flash themes etc. However, please keep in mind that the camera shutter will no longer start the camera software when opened. You will therefore have to open "Camera" on the menu before you can take any pics. This may be a downside for most, but I quite like the fact that even if the shutter opens in my pocket by mistake, it will not go to camera mode.

And if you press and hold the camera button, does the camera get opened?

afaik yes the camera will activate if you press and hold the camera button... but of course you will need to open the camera cover afterwards...

Two questions:

1) Did you lose any camera options when flashing with W610i firmware?
Read some reports by users who haven't found any differences but that seems improbable to me. Software tweaks should be an easy way for SE to make it a Cybershot.

2) Is it still updatable via SEUS?
That is, is it identified as a W610i, or do one have to load future updates via Wotan Server?

Would really appreciate answers to these questions as I'm trying to decide wether to get a K550i or a W610i.

Hi, well, i did not see any camera differences except that you have to press and hold the camera button for the camera to open instead of just sliding open the shutter.
It is identified as W610i but I did not try to update it via Seus.
I think the best part is that you can use the flash menus as on other walkman phones and the W610i comes with a few cool ones

Thanks for your quick reply!
Just one more question...

Some user said that he experienced the phone/menus a bit slower after flashing. What do you think? Maybe the flash-themes are heavier on the processor?

My K550i is still pretty new (2 weeks) so I'm keeping it in stock condition for now, but I do plan to flash it to a W610i at some point. Once the "new-ness" wears off. Good tip on the camera! These are the kind of things folks need to know before undertaking a re-flash. You never know what's a dealbreaker for someone.
