Hello all,

In weaker reception areas, the reception shown on my t68i often jumps
around between 2 and 4 bars (Orange UK).

Also, if I place my hand (or just a finger) over the back of the phone,
the reception drops to around 1 bar. Removing my hand causes the
reception to increase again.

In very strong areas of reception, my hand seems to have little effect
on the reception, maybe dropping it from 5 to 4 bars (if at all).

I've not noticed this effect on my older nokias (3210, 3330)
which all have internal antennas like the t68i.

Is this a common problem with the phone? - I only noticed this
because I was loosing some calls if clutching the phone too tight!

Thanks for the help,
Chris.

t68 model internal antena actually placed behind of the phone. if u know how to open the phone casing. u should be able to find a silicon paper on top of the battery area behind the casing.

that's why u will have unstable reception if u put ya hand there. i don't know how nokia did hide thier antena. but i found t68 have better reception.

i tested using nokia 8210 and t68 placed at same place and having the same network. i found out that the t68 have 1 or 2 more bar than the 8210.

cheers

But is this normal behaviour for the t68i?

Or do I have a faulty antenna?

Its normal. Try not to keep your hand over the top of the phone so as not to block the signal from the antenna.
