Email gives "Server not found. message everytime? |

Hi everyone, have been having this problem for a long time and with numerous phones (W800i, W810i, W850i).
I enter all the necessary details for my email account but whenever I try to connect (via O2 GPRS), it takes ages to attempt to "Connect" and then about after two minutes it comes up with "Server not found...".
It's a really strange area and also a quite annoying one - as I said, it happened in the previous phones that I had.
Any ideas? |

whats the APN of the data account you are using?
I suspect its their wap/gprs account using wap.o2.co.uk rather than the full gprs mobile.o2.co.uk

Is there a difference between the two? It is currently set to "wap.o2.co.uk" |

yes, but to be honest I've never understood why. I just know that almost everytime this message comes up its because you're using a wap/gprs account rather than a full internet/gprs account.
here is a page that gives you the two different settings

btw, I don't know what the current situation is but I recall it was also an issue using o2 full internet/gprs on payg deals
no idea if thats still the same but if you still get problems then that could be the reason so keep it in mind

I have a contract with O2 through CPW. Already have £21 in internet excess charges this week - oops!
Will give it a go.

Are you using the standard O2 GPRS settings or the Mobileweb ones?
Email on O2 will only work with the Mobileweb settings, and they only work with an O2 contract, not PAYG I'm afraid!

Well I am going to try the MobileWeb ones when I get access to my phone. I'm on contract so it should be ok. |

hhmmmm - when I had a blank DNS address mine wouldn't connect,
entered 193.113.200.200 (or 200.201) and it works perfectly !!!
