I was able 2 connect GPRS over cable in ubuntu 6.06 LTS with SE k510i. its pretty difficult, but speed was better than windows. Search through linux forums & google 2 find various ways of connecting.

the problem with linux is that u need 2 know some programming, otherwise its a pretty good system, but software support isn't that good. windows is very user friendly, but deadly viruses always destroy ur system. Note that most winmodems aren't well supported in linux. After a lot of effort I was not able 2 connect GPRS over bluetooth in linux--ubuntu 6.06, and also internet by serial cable through CDMA 2000 phone, therefore I removed ubuntu from My pc. maybe linux ppl improve their hardware support 2 make things easier.
