This may be a stupid question but I just can't get it to work. I have my internet set up correctly and everything works just fine on the preinstalled browser. Do I need to set up a new Internet account?

the first question, especially as your post here is from wap, is... have you setup full internet access on your phone (and not just wap/internet)?

also, probably, the full internet access data account will need to be the first data account in your phone

What do you mean "full internet"? What's the difference?

wap connections, although able to access some of the internet, are much more restricted than full internet access and this has always been a problem since internet access was first introduced on phones.

in general you'll need a full internet data account to access email on pop3 etc and also software such as opera require a full internet data account

Also, how do I turn an account into the first one without deleting the others?

isn't that what I am already saying?

anyway, to get the first data account with the correct full internet settings the only choice is to edit the first data account to have those settings and edit subsequent data accounts to have the wap settings you are currently using. you cant simply renumber the CID unfortunately

How do I know if I have full internet? How do I change my application settings? When I open Opera, it says it has to run 2 tests. It passes the first test and then says it can't connect to the internet. It just gives me the option to exit.

I've done a quick google for Bellsouth gprs settings but not come up with much.

best to ask Bellsouth themselves for the settings you need. perhaps they can send them to your phone directly

It's called Movistar now and I already have everything set up. I'm posting using Movistar's network right now.

this has been my point from the beginning.

the fact that your phone is being identified here as K790a suggests you are posting using wap

your IP shows as bellsouth but even googling movistar (which I thought was a spanish operator) I'm not finding anything for columbia, just moviestar.es, so please talk to your operator about this and I'm sure they can point you in the right direction.

I don't want to risk them knowing I have free browsing. I'm quite satisfied with the NetFront browser. The only thing that bothers me is that it can't be minimized. But oh well, whatever.

from my experience, netfront will work on wap or full internet conection whereas opera mini requires a full internet connection

so, from what you have said, I guess you're stuck using what you already have...

BTW Movistar is Spanish but they recently bought a bunch of carriers here in Latin America so they now have presence in Colombia, Peru, Argentina, Uruguay, amongst others.

You should also change the gprs settings in the java section of your K790.
Where you found internet profiles and changed them do the same with settings for java in that menu.
Then Opera-mini knows how to connect to the internet
Also look in the settings of Opera-mini if http is checked and not socket.
